So I arrived today in NYC for a few days, for some work meetings.
I checked into my hotel, and I was all grouchy and starving after delayed flight (nothing vegan to eat on plane! should have packed a snack. Note to self - always pack snacks!)
I walked across to the little italian pizza place across the street, intending to figure out what I could eat there, without having to trek too far. I will say, normally I love coming to NYC and I usually schedule a different vegan place to try every night. There's so much great food here. Try Candle 79 next time you're in town, for a snazzy vegan splurge. Delish!
They sell pizza by the slice, and I said "I don't suppose you have any slices without cheese?"
and he said "I can certainly make up a slice for you, no problem! Extra sauce, and maybe some basil on there?" and it was soooo good. Sometimes it's just the pleasure in the little details, you know?
mmmm. Thanks pizza guy!

The Joys of Fostering
So, we had Riley for about two weeks. It seemed so much longer, she was at home with us so quickly. I just got home from work and I miss her sweet face and wagging tail. It's so rewarding to see a dog come out of her shell the way she did. I can't get over how quiet it is around here with Kristin's Bunkers (Archie and Edith) having gone home now that she's back from Jazz Fest - and with Riley on to her new forever home. Hopefully another foster will come along soon... we miss her!!
On a happy note, it seems she's settling in quite nicely with Sinbad, her new brother (also an RDR alumni) and his parents. All of the folks who were in Noe Valley yesterday for our adoption event were amazing. I can't get over how big everyone's hearts are... it's lovely to see.
If you're thinking of a dog - DO NOT BUY ONE - adopt.

Welcome
Welcome to Becoming Vegan!
This is a random collection of things I like -
other blogs and books I found useful when making my transition to fully vegan...
as well as just, well, cool stuff in general.
Enjoy!
